My name is Dr Alexandre Czerniewski, although many patients simply call me Dr Alex, which is perfectly fine with me.

I graduated in Medicine from the Jagiellonian University Medical College in Kraków, Poland, before completing my General Practice training in Scotland, where I qualified as a GP in 2017. I spent several years working as a locum GP throughout Scotland before moving to the Channel Islands, working in Guernsey from 2022 to 2024 and in Jersey since late 2024.

Before studying medicine, I completed undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Chemistry at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Although my career ultimately led me into medicine, I have always enjoyed science, lifelong learning and understanding how advances in research can improve patient care.

I enjoy all aspects of general practice and value building long-term relationships with patients and their families. I believe good medicine begins with listening carefully, taking time to understand each person’s concerns, and working together to find practical solutions. I consider it a privilege that patients place their trust in me, and I strive to provide compassionate, evidence-based care in a friendly and approachable manner. I have particular interests in dermatology, travel medicine, joint injections and minor procedures, and I am currently undertaking postgraduate training in clinical dermatology. I also work as a Forensic Medical Examiner (Police Doctor) in Jersey and on occasion provide out-of-hour GP services (JDOC).

Having lived and worked in several countries, I appreciate the importance of good communication. I am fluent in English, French, Polish and Spanish, and I am currently learning Portuguese.

Outside medicine, I enjoy spending time with my wife, who is originally from Peru, and our young son, who was born here in Jersey. We are active members of Town Church in St Helier, where I enjoy playing both the piano and the organ during services. I also enjoy travelling, languages and discovering different cultures, experiences that have helped shape the way I care for patients from all walks of life.
