Every woman aged 25- 64 years is eligible for free cervical screening. This is routinely done on a 3 yearly recall basis between 25 and 49 and every five years between 50 and 64. You will be called by the surgery by letter or phone to make an appointment. Screening is best done 2 weeks after your usual period. Any woman who has concerns outside of this time, including unusual bleeding, discharge or pain, is advised to make an appointment with their usual GP or Nurse to discuss further.
